Swanage Railway is easily accessible from the main A351 Wareham-Swanage road, with brown tourism signs directing you to our station at Norden. This benefits from ample coach and car parking with adjoining modern toilets and children’s play area. Coach drivers may wish to seek refreshments at our cafe here or having dropped off your guests, progress empty to Swanage where there is coach drop off/pick up point adjacent to our railway station and nearby long-stay parking.
For pre-booked parties of 15 people or more we offer special group travel discounts and will reserve adjacent seats on the trains you wish to travel upon. This ensures hassle-free travel while all your party can sit together and enjoy the romance of bygone travel. At Norden we have an extensive mining museum your party can browse while waiting for the train, included free as part of your visit (check opening dates). Once on-board the specially reserved seats, your train passes through iconic Corfe Castle Station, located in the heart of this much photographed village, offering the National Trust owned castle and tea rooms, other attractions include a model village, souvenir shops and local catering outlets.
Groups can travel to the unspoilt Victorian seaside town of Swanage, offering Blue Flag winning beach, the World Heritage Site “Jurassic Coast”, safe bathing waters and promenade. While at the station parties can pick up a memento of their visit or a treat for a loved one in our extensive Gift Shop. Our cafe and picnic area at the station is directly adjacent to the Coach Pick Up Point in Gilbert Road and so makes an ideal collection and waiting point as your guests prepare for the return journey by coach or train.
Coach drivers are provided with a free travel ticket and free tea / coffee. Railway and historical interest groups are welcomed and, subject to availability, a tour with a visit to a signalbox can be arranged in advance, accompanied by one of our informative volunteer guides (subject to availability).
