Dedicated Swanage Railway volunteers are running special evening trains between Norden park and ride, Corfe Castle, Harman’s Cross, Herston and Swanage – to deliver people to three special Saturday evening firework displays in the seaside town.

The attended car park at Norden station just off the A351 north of Corfe Castle will be open until 12 midnight on three successive Saturdays – 9, 16 and 23 August 2008.

That is so people attending the special Saturday evening fireworks displays in Swanage can leave their car at Norden and let the train take the strain as they travel town to the popular seaside resort.

The three Saturday evenings will also see Swanage Railway volunteers running their ‘Dorsetman’ dining train between Swanage, Herston Halt, Harman’s Cross, Corfe Castle and Norden park and ride.

The special dining train leaves Swanage at 7.35pm and offers two round trips of the award-winning relaid Purbeck Line – the second departure from the seaside town being at 8.50pm.

On the evenings of Saturdays 9, 16 and 23 August 2008, the special fireworks trains leave Norden park and ride for Swanage at 6.45pm, 7.45pm, 8.18pm, 8.45pm, 10.15pm, 10.40pm and 11.37pm.

Fireworks train departures from Swanage bound for Norden park and ride on the three successive Saturday evenings are at 6.15pm, 7.15pm, 7.35pm, 8.17pm, 8.50pm, 10.10pm and 11.10pm.

Train tickets for unlimited evening travel on the day of issue after 5pm are £5 for adults and £3.50 for concessions (children and senior citizens).
